Food insecurity in school aged children can have major implications for their ability learn, develop, and grow. Teachers are often the front-lines in detecting students that might be facing food insecurity and are some of the best able to affect change. This session will provide general awareness of what food insecurity is, its affects on academic success, and programs and policies that schools can institute to provide nutritious food to some of the classroom’s most vulnerable students.
